Job summary

Bray International is seeking an Engineering Manager - Electrics in Houston to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on developing and sustaining our electrical actuators and control portfolio. You will guide design, testing, and qualification activities, interfacing with sales, production, and customers to deliver reliable solutions.

The role emphasizes leading RC/PCB design, prototype build, and rigorous FMEAs to enhance product performance and address field issues.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing capabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Experience in PCD design (Altium preferred) and/or 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong self-organization, planning, and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the engineering efforts and projects for Bray’s family of Electrical Actuators.
  • Manage a multi-discipline team to sustain Bray's electrics portfolio and develop product enhancements and new features.
  • Work with Sales engineering to address client requests.
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and product management to identify projects for the team.
  • Lead reviews and FMEAs to ensure product reliability.
  • Direct the investigation of field issues.
  • Work with certification agencies and test labs to qualify products to meet industry standards (UL, CSA, FM, IEC, etc).
  • 3D modeling of actuator and control system components, tools, and accessories; develop PCB designs.
  • Design and assemble prototypes; conduct feasibility and characterization testing.
  • Generate drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and engineering release notices.
  • Interface with manufacturing and other engineering sites to complete design work.
  • Provide application information to sales and customers and address technical inquiries.
  • Review and interpret customer and industry specifications to integrate them into valve design packages.
  • Support manufacturing in the disposition of non-conforming materials and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with the Service team for product performance evaluations.

Position Overview: In this role, you will manage a multi-discipline engineering team responsible for researching and developing new technologies to improve product offerings and performance, sustain Bray's electrics portfolio by addressing production issues, supporting sales opportunities, and collaborating with clients on critical field issues. This position offers broad visibility and significant potential for advancement within the Bray organization.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the engineering efforts and projects for Bray’s family of Electrical Actuators, a product line that is critical to the success of Bray.
  • Manage a multi-discipline team to sustain Bray's electrics portfolio and develop product enhancements and new features. Some team members may be in other parts of the world.
  • Work with Sales engineering to address client requests
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and product management to identify projects for the team.
  • Lead reviews and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) to ensure product reliability.
  • Direct the investigation of field issues.
  • Work with certification agencies and test labs to qualify products to meet industry standards (UL, CSA, FM, IEC, etc)
  • Guide your team in performing the following functions:
  • 3D modeling of actuator and control system components, tools, and accessories.
  • Develop new electrical and circuit designs, including designing, testing, and validating new PCB assemblies.
  • Design and assemble prototypes based on design concepts.
  • Conduct feasibility and characterization testing on prototypes and final products.
  • Generate accurate drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and engineering release notices.
  • Interface with manufacturing and other engineering sites to complete design work.
  • Provide application information to sales and customers and address technical inquiries.
  • Review and interpret customer and industry specifications to integrate them into valve design packages.
  • Support manufacturing in the disposition of non-conforming materials and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with the Service team for product performance evaluations.
