This role combines deep application expertise with front‑end project engagement, EPC and end‑user influence, and structured account strategy execution.

Operating as a highly collaborative, team‑oriented leader, the BDM works seamlessly across regional sales, global engineering, product management, marketing, and operations to deliver shared business objectives. The position is accountable for driving specification inclusion, expanding strategic key accounts, strengthening AML positioning, and delivering sustainable sales and bookings growth for control valves and automation while serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal stakeholders.

In close alignment with Bray’s global Controls Division and regional sales leadership, the role translates global strategy into disciplined, coordinated regional execution.

Strategic Business Development & Growth Execution

  • Develop and execute regional and key‑account growth strategies to expand control valve and automation revenue.

  • Drive front‑end engagement for priority pursuits, including early project influence, technical positioning, and solution strategy.

  • Support regional leadership with opportunity strategy, risk assessment, and execution clarity on complex or high‑value pursuits.

  • Actively engage EPCs, consultants, and engineering houses to influence specifications and project standards.

  • Lead expansion of Bray’s position on end user and EPC AMLs.

  • Serve as Bray’s technical authority in resolving qualification gaps, competitive challenges, and specification barriers.

Technical Authority & Trusted Advisor Role

  • Serve as the recognized subject‑matter expert in control valves, actuation, and automation across assigned markets.

  • Represent Bray as a trusted technical partner to end users, EPCs, and OEMs at both engineering and executive levels.

Industry & Account Strategy Ownership

  • Develop and execute industry‑specific growth strategies in collaboration with regional sales teams (e.g., oil & gas, chemical, power, mining, pulp & paper, sugar & ethanol, water, geothermal).

  • Establish long‑term strategic relationships with key customers, engineering stakeholders, and decision makers.

  • Replicate global and regional success stories across markets to accelerate adoption and consistency.

Sales Enablement & Market Development

  • Train and enable sales teams to confidently position and specify control valve and automation solutions.

  • Deliver technical training, customer seminars, and workshops to build application confidence and brand trust.

  • Participate directly in high‑value customer meetings alongside regional sales teams.

  • Demonstrate a strong “one‑team” mindset, balancing individual accountability with collective success.

Cross‑Functional & Global Alignment

  • Ensure regional execution aligns with Bray’s global Control Valve & Automation strategy.

  • Contribute to enterprise success by sharing best practices, supporting broader BII Controls Division initiatives, and replicating wins beyond individual territory ownership.

  • Operate as an active team player partnering closely with product management, marketing, projects, and operations to align strategy and execution.

  • Provide structured market feedback on customer needs, competitive trends, and portfolio gaps.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related discipline (required).

  • 10+ years of experience in control valves, actuation, or industrial automation, with strong application exposure.

  • Proven experience engaging EPCs, consultants, and end‑user engineering organizations.

  • Demonstrated success influencing specifications, AML inclusion, and front‑end project decisions.

  • Strong technical credibility paired with commercial and strategic acumen.

  • Ability to operate independently while influencing cross‑functional and global teams.

  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region.

  • Travel & Transportation:

  • Valid driver’s license required with reliable personal transportation.

  • Must meet Bray’s Drivers Policy requirements, including background, physical, credit check, and proof of auto insurance.

  • Field‑based role with frequent travel within the territory and to Houston, Texas occasionally for training.
