About The Role

As a Data Platform Manager, you will be at the helm of our data infrastructure, driving innovation and scalability to empower data-driven decision-making across our organization. You’ll work closely with cross-functional Engineering and Product teams to architect, enhance, and manage a robust Data Platform that aligns with our core mission: helping everyday people unlock their financial progress.

About The Role

As a Data Platform Manager, you will be at the helm of our data infrastructure, driving innovation and scalability to empower data-driven decision-making across our organization. You’ll work closely with cross-functional Engineering and Product teams to architect, enhance, and manage a robust Data Platform that aligns with our core mission: helping everyday people unlock their financial progress.

Your leadership will directly enhance Chime’s ability to process and analyze large-scale data, ensuring seamless integration across multiple teams while setting the foundation for data accessibility, governance, and operational efficiency.

This role is not just about managing a platform—it's about building a vision, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and leading a team that ensures our data infrastructure meets both present and future needs.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $176,490 and up to $245,100. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Data Platform, designing a scalable and high-performance architecture that evolves with the business.
  • Ensure seamless integration of data systems across the company, collaborating with Engineering and Product teams to align solutions with business needs.
  • Oversee critical infrastructure, including real-time data pipelines, batch processing systems and frameworks that make data compute accessible for engineering teams
  • Drive performance optimization, enhancing query performance, reducing latency, and ensuring efficient data compute.
  • Implement and enforce data governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, security best practices, and internal policies.
  • Mentor and manage a team of engineers, fostering innovation and technical excellence while driving best practices for data engineering.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating and adopting new technologies to enhance our data capabilities.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • Proven expertise in system architecture design for scalable data platforms.
  • Deep experience with data infrastructure components, such as data lakes, warehouses, batch and real-time streaming pipelines
  • Understanding of data governance and compliance best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data technologies, including Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes, and similar tools.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar languages like Java, or Scala. Familiarity with SQL
  • Extensive experience with cloud-based data ecosystems, including AWS (S3, Redshift, Snowflake, EMR), GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow), or Azure.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage technical teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
