Job summary

Stepful is hiring an Engineering Manager, Data to own Stepful's data function — the infrastructure, analytics, and insights that power decisions across the company, from student outcomes to marketing spend. You’ll lead a team of three data analysts and engineers while staying deeply hands-on: writing code, building models, and shipping analyses alongside your team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in analytics and data engineering with leadership experience.
• Player-coach who ships work while guiding others.
• Expert SQL and Python with modern data stack experience.
• Experience designing and analyzing experiments in a high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of three data analysts and engineers.
• Own data platform end-to-end – pipelines, warehouse, transformation, BI tooling.
• Define core metrics across student journey and business performance.
• Build dashboards and self-serve analytics for all teams.
• Partner with Growth and Product on experimentation; design and analyze A/B tests.
• Deliver deep-dive analyses to inform strategy and budgeting.
• Hands-on coding in SQL and Python; review team output and tackle hard problems.
• Establish scalable data governance and quality practices.
