Job summary

Gibson Engineering Company, Inc. in the Greater Boston area seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a custom automation engineering team. The role spans mechanical, controls/electrical, and software disciplines, delivering turnkey systems for customers and managing multiple projects.

You will mentor engineers, maintain accountability, and partner with Application and Sales Engineering to scope, design, test, and install solutions that meet client needs and deadlines.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Software or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in industrial automation or custom systems integration with team leadership.
• Proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects and schedules and drive ownership.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop 7–8 engineers across mechanical and controls/electrical disciplines.
• Mentor early-career engineers and build a culture of ownership and accountability.
• Oversee custom, customer-facing automation projects end-to-end from scoping to installation.
• Provide technical oversight and design reviews across mechanical and electrical work.
• Serve as engineering point of contact for customers on complex issues.
• Collaborate with Application and Sales Engineering through project lifecycle.
• Drive KPI-based performance management for the team.
