Job summary

Northwestern Mutual is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Electronic Communication Compliance (eComm) engineering team in Milwaukee. You will drive execution, vendor coordination, and delivery priorities to meet regulatory obligations for monitoring, retention, and compliance.

You will partner with Compliance, Enterprise Technology, and external vendors to evolve the compliance tech ecosystem while balancing regulatory demands and platform health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 4–5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3–5+ years of experience with modern engineering tools and software delivery.
• 1–2 years of technical leadership experience.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Experience with vendor and external partner coordination.
• Experience in compliance or regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide people leadership for product and engineering teams.
• Manage vendor relationships for eComm capabilities.
• Lead production issue response with ownership and RCA.
• Translate priorities into team execution plans balancing regulatory obligations.
• Support planning and delivery discipline (backlog, sprints).
• Partner with Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Enterprise Technology.
• Surface risks and decisions for leadership alignment.
