Job summary

DRT Aerospace in Winsted, CT is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering for aerospace machining. You will mentor a team of engineers, drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, and align engineering priorities with business goals.

This high-impact role focuses on improving productivity, quality, and delivery while supporting NPI and capital projects. You’ll build capability through training, champion safety and compliance with AS9100, and partner with cross-functional leaders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in aerospace, CNC machining, precision machining, or advanced manufacturing.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, machining, and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers and technical professionals.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and cost.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and production readiness activities.
• Lead capital equipment and automation projects and analyze production data for improvements.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and aerospace customer requirements.

Improve productivity, throughput, quality, and cost performance

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and production readiness activities

Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, tooling, and work instructions

Lead capital equipment and automation projects

Analyze production data and implement sustainable process improvements

Support root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives

Ensure compliance with AS9100 and aerospace customer requirements

Drive operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery, and cost

What We're Looking For

Leadership Experience

Proven success leading, mentoring, and developing engineering teams

Ability to influence, motivate, and build trust across all levels of the organization

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience leading through change and driving organizational improvements

Technical Experience

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline

7+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in aerospace, CNC machining, precision machining, or advanced manufacturing

3+ years of engineering leadership experience

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, machining, and process optimization

Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies

Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and aerospace quality systems

Experience supporting AS9100 environments
