Canoe Intelligence is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Data Delivery Guild in New York City. The role blends people leadership with hands-on coding to ensure reliable, timely data extraction and delivery to clients.

You will guide backlog priorities, support agent-augmented delivery, and maintain clear communication with Product, engineering peers, and stakeholders. This role values technical leadership and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in a leadership capacity guiding engineers.
• Hands-on coding and debugging in a contributing manager role.
• Experience with data integration/delivery patterns (APIs, file-transfer protocols, scheduled exports, third-party system integrations).
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for data delivery and the systems that support it.
• Balance hands-on IC contribution with management duties while staying technical.
• Drive execution against the guild's backlog and priorities with proactive issue identification and unblocking.
• Shape the guild's approach to agent-augmented development for AI agents in delivery pipelines.
• Own clear, proactive communication with team, Product, and stakeholders.
• Maintain a visible backlog across multiple integrations and channels to keep work on track.
• Ensure engineers stay accountable for correctness of outputs delivered to clients.
• Onboard quickly and build trust with the team.
