Job summary

Disney Experiences Technology seeks a Manager of Software Engineering to lead an engineering team responsible for architecture, development, testing, deployment, and enhancement of software applications, services, and platforms across diverse computing environments. This role sits within Disney Consumer Products technology.

You will drive technical strategy, partner with vendors, and mentor engineers while aligning deliverables with security, reliability, and scalability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, IS, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to grow the team.
• Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis, Design and Development.
• Experience with web and mobile application development, backend services, and multi-vendor environments.
• Experience with Java/J2EE architectures and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Experience leading technical teams including engineers, architects, and project managers.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Proven track record in monitoring and improving application availability and reliability.
• Visionary leader who inspires creativity and excellence.
• Advocate for diversity and inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgets and forecasting to support organizational objectives.
• Manage an engineering team responsible for software lifecycle across multiple environments.
• Lead large-scale software initiatives with cross-functional collaboration.
• Provide technical leadership ensuring architecture, security, reliability, and scalability.
• Lead partnerships with external vendors to meet standards and business needs.
• Develop roadmaps to improve platform reliability and performance.
• Establish engineering best practices, automation, testing, and observability.
• Track engineering metrics to guide decisions and improve system health.
• Engage in planning, estimation, and resource discussions balancing value and risk.
• Monitor emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.
