Job summary

Humata Health seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Payer Intelligence team that automates prior authorization workflows from provider intake to AI-driven medical necessity determination. You will own people, process, and technical direction across Go backend, Python AI actions, and Vue 3 frontends, guiding architecture, testing, and delivery while partnering with Product and ClinOps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with leadership
• Hands-on depth in Go, Python, or TypeScript (read and review code)
• Experience with modern AI technologies and AI-enabled products
• Proven track record in hiring engineers and conducting interviews
• Performance development experience and growing engineers
• Experience shipping distributed services (containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD)
• Strong SQL and relational data modeling
• Clear and effective written/verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers across backend, AI/ML, and frontend disciplines
• Own performance cycles: goals, mid-year and annual reviews
• Partner with recruiting to hire AI-focused roles
• Foster psychological safety and accountability in the team
• Develop growth plans for teammates
• Set technical direction across Go backend, Python AI actions, Vue 3 frontend
• Ensure reliability and cost effectiveness of AI/ML pipelines
• Engage in architecture reviews and establish best practices
• Drive roadmap execution with Product, Design, and Clinical teams
• Coordinate multi-project work spanning Python, Go, and frontends
• Remove blockers and maintain agile delivery rhythms
• Communicate progress and trade-offs to leadership
• Improve velocity, quality, and developer experience
• Act as engineering contact for Product, Clinical Operations, and stakeholders
• Translate clinical/regulatory requirements into technical scope
• Represent capabilities and limits of AI to non-technical audiences
• Collaborate on org-wide standards and tooling
