United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Engineering Manager for Model Infrastructure to lead the team powering model requests across the company. You will partner with AI Research, Product Engineering, Infrastructure, and external AI providers to ensure our platform remains reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient as our business grows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with multiple years leading teams.
• Experience leading large-scale distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to guide architecture and mentor senior engineers.
• Experience operating highly available production services with reliability.
• Experience building scalable platforms with observability and cost optimization.
• Strong cross-functional leadership across Engineering, Research, Product, and vendors.
• Excellent communication and influence on technical strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing software engineering team for Model Infrastructure.
• Define the technical roadmap for reliability, scalability, and operations.
• Build reliable systems for model provisioning, capacity management, and failover.
• Own the multi-provider model platform, provider integrations, and migrations.
• Advance the Unified Model Controller and Model Selector for traffic routing by health, latency, and cost.
• Improve observability with dashboards, alerting, token usage analytics, and cost reporting.
• Partner with Product Engineering to support model launches and production monitoring.
• Lead efforts to optimize inference performance and reduce infrastructure costs.
• Build data pipelines, model operations, and training environments for future AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with executives on long-term AI infrastructure strategy and vendor relations.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop talent with a culture of technical excellence.
