Overview

As a Civil Engineering Manager, you'll lead the planning, permitting, and delivery of electric transmission projects--guiding technical execution while developing the next generation of engineering talent.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll balance technical expertise, project oversight, and team development, all while collaborating across disciplines to deliver complex, meaningful projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead civil engineering efforts for electric transmission siting, permitting, and design
  • Direct and coordinate project tasks, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget alignment
  • Guide multidisciplinary collaboration across engineering teams
  • Oversee preparation and review of calculations, drawings, and technical deliverables
  • Conduct field assessments, site inspections, and construction‑phase support
  • Participate in proposal development, including scope and budget creation
  • Ensure quality through peer reviews, QA/QC processes, and technical oversight
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders
What We’re Looking For

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (multi‑state reciprocity preferred)
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, permitting, and construction practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in dynamic environments
Experience
  • 12+ years of experience in civil engineering
  • Proficient with the development of design and construction documents for infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience with regulatory requirements and permitting associated with infrastructure projects
  • Background in electric transmission or similar infrastructure projects preferred
  • Experience using engineering and project tools such as AutoCAD, Hydrology, Hydraulic, Stormwater Management and Project Management software
Technical Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor, applying advanced engineering concepts to complex challenges
  • Evaluate and implement innovative methods, tools, and processes
  • Analyze projects from a systems perspective with a focus on sustainability and long‑term performance
  • Stay current on evolving engineering practices and recommend improvements
Management, Supervision, and Guidance
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Assign work, manage performance, and foster continuous learning
  • Provide coaching that builds technical capability and professional growth
  • Promote a culture of curiosity, accountability, and collaboration
Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership
  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal partners
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences
  • Lead with influence, bringing teams together to solve complex challenges
