Job summary

A-Gas seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the site engineering function, advancing safety, reliability, and growth. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, drive capital projects from concept through commissioning, and collaborate with operations and regional engineering leaders to deliver compliant, high-impact solutions.

You will partner with Refrigerant, Fire Protection, and Environmental Services leaders while promoting safety culture and continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in an operational or chemical processing environment.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Oil and gas sector experience preferred.
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through delivery.
  • Experience managing construction contractors and site execution activities.
  • Knowledge of hazard analysis and leading or participating in HAZOP studies.
  • Experience with design and operation of pressurized liquefied gas systems.
  • Proficiency with design tools like AutoCAD and similar software.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies.

Summary:

As Engineering Manager, you will provide visible leadership for site engineering while advancing safety, reliability, operational performance, and strategic growth. You will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, apply strong technical judgment to capital and improvement projects, partner closely with operations and maintenance, and collaborate with Refrigerant, Fire Protection, and Environmental Services leaders, as well as regional and group engineering, to deliver practical, compliant, and high-impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure Management of Change, risk assessment, and hazard identification processes are followed for all work performed by your team and contractors under your direction.
  • Implement effective controls and risk mitigation measures for engineering and site activities.
  • Enforce life-critical procedures, including lockout/tagout and permit-to-work requirements, to protect employees and contractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Build and Develop High-Performing Teams
  • Lead, coach, and develop the site engineering team while supporting talent growth across the region.
  • Provide coaching and training that keeps site personnel aligned with current engineering and operational standards.
Lead Capital Projects and Technical Execution
  • Lead the design, specification, and delivery of new equipment and plant improvements that enhance safety, environmental performance, capacity, and profitability.
  • Ensure projects are clearly defined, justified, planned, and executed through the full engineering project lifecycle, from concept and approval through HAZOP, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Manage the site engineering capital budget of multi-millon dollar projects through delivery, commisioning and ramp up
Partner with Operations and Functional Leaders
  • Partner closely with operations and maintenance to sustain safe, reliable equipment performance, and collaborate with Refrigerant, Fire Protection, and Environmental Services leaders to align engineering priorities, compliance, and execution.
Improve Plant Performance and Engineering Alignment
  • Provide strong technical support to production by improving process performance, equipment reliability, and plant capability.
  • Work with regional and group engineering and support business excellence initiatives to improve operational efficiency, increase throughput, and reduce waste.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in an operational or chemical processing environment.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Prior experience in or knowledge of the oil and gas sector preferred.
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through delivery.
  • Experience managing construction contractors and site execution activities.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical, and civil engineering as it applies to plant design and construction.
  • Working knowledge of hazard analysis and experience leading or participating in HAZOP studies.
  • Experience with the design and operation of pressurized liquefied gas systems.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Industrial safety experience, including work with life-critical procedures such as LOTOTO, working at heights, and hot work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Experience in the compressed gas industry preferred.
  • Understanding of chemical processing techniques such as fractional distillation.
  • PLC programming and specification experience.
  • Experience using thermodynamic and physical property databases, such as REFPROP, in plant design.
  • Experience with process simulation tools such as CHEMCAD or Aspen.
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and codes.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
