Job summary

PCI Pharma Services is seeking a Manager, Reliability Engineering based in San Diego, California. This role involves managing reliability staff and ensuring compliance in bio-pharmaceutical operations. You will also mentor and develop your team, oversee project metrics, and directly influence the reliability program at PCI.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field, a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, and strong leadership skills. A competitive benefits package is included.

Job Title: Manager, Reliability Engineering

Summary

This position responsibilities are to manage reliability staff and projects in support of bio-pharmaceutical and aseptic filling operations. Represent and report reliability program metrics to executive management. Mentor and develop staff consistent with best practices and PCI policy. Administer quarterly reviews, one‑on‑one meetings, and performance appraisals.

Essential Job Functions – Other Duties May Be Assigned
  • Oversee day‑to‑day reliability activities
  • Ensure staff activities are supervised consistent with tactical plans
  • Train and mentor technical and supervisory staff on best practices
  • Review department output for customer service and compliance
  • Provide in‑depth technical review of all documents and reports
  • Travel between facilities to support all functional areas
  • Well‑developed supervisory ability
  • Ability to work across functional area boundaries
  • Ability to follow up with staff and keep work tasks on track
  • Results oriented
  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full‑time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
  • Interface with and direct outside contractors, oversee equipment installation
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
  • Embodies PCI's cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience required
  • 3 years leadership/supervisory experience
  • Understanding of plant and equipment reliability preferred
  • 7+ years cGMP experience
  • Well‑developed hands‑on experience with Process Mechanical Systems including facilities and utility equipment.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical systems and processes
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Directs and provides expert knowledge in the day‑to‑day function of Reliability Engineering.
  • Identifies, recruits, and retains top‑notch talent.
  • Champions PCI’s culture and empowers employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals.
  • Coaches, mentors, engage and develop the team, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and learning opportunities.
  • Sets performance standards and encourages employee engagement and results through delegation, continuous feedback, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Maintains transparent communication. Appropriately communicates organization information through department meetings, one‑on‑one meetings, and appropriate email, and regular interpersonal communication.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the employees in accordance with PCI’s policies and procedures.

The base salary hiring range for this position is $119,600 - $149,500 plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including but not limited to specific and relevant experience, education, credentials, geography, and subject matter expertise.
