Overview

Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and manufacturing processes, with a strong emphasis on custom machine design. Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel. Leads teams in the development of new equipment, solutions, and processes. Oversees project logistics, resource allocation, and ensures designs meet performance, quality, and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Leads machine design efforts, including concept development, mechanical layout, component selection, and detailed engineering.
  • Oversees integration of pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, controls, and safety systems into custom equipment.
  • Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel.
  • Guides projects from concept through build, testing, installation, and customer acceptance.
  • Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, reducing waste and enhancing manufacturability.
  • Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments.
  • Develops and oversees project budgets, engaging in cost management strategies.
  • Creates equipment proposals for sales, external customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Interfaces with the Sales Team to provide technical support, training, and customer presentations.
  • Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and customers.
  • Collaborates with other team leaders and departments to ensure project alignment.
  • Assures processes and designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Supports suppliers and customers, forging strong relationships to align technical solutions with business needs.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree.
  • At least six to eight years of experience in manufacturing and machine design engineering required.
Qualifications
  • AutoCAD 2D and 3D proficiency; SolidWorks or similar CAD software experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new machine designs or adapt existing systems within budget and timeline.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, conveyors, guarding, material handling, machining, and welding practices.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls (PLC/HMI platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
  • Personnel and project management skills, with proven leadership, team building, and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Critical thinking, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience with prototype development, machine debugging, and shop-floor testing.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at varying stages simultaneously.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
  • Proficiency with presentation software to communicate complex engineering solutions to management and customers.
  • Flexible, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to pivot approaches when faced with challenges.
  • Sales travel and field service up to 20% of time, including direct customer interaction for new projects or troubleshooting past installations.
