Job summary

PUBLIC is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee maintenance of the hotel facility, including structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and life-safety systems. The role partners with the Director of Engineering to ensure efficient operations, safety compliance and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities include supervising maintenance staff, coordinating repairs, and ensuring energy conservation programs are followed in all areas of the property.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Join the Director of Engineering to conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and boiler operations
  • Ensure all emergency and life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested and operational
  • Ability to perform general repair and maintenance, such as responding to guest calls if necessary, per the direction of the Director of Engineering.
  • Actively train in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and engineering systems.
  • Accurately record and verify the completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and team member work areas.
  • Ensure everything is in guestrooms and public space is in working order and is set to specification.
  • Supervise necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel . .
  • Support the Director of Engineering in overseeing the department’s payroll and schedules.
  • Resolve guest complaints, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism , accommodating special requests whenever possible.
  • Respond to guests’ requests in an accurate and timely manner, creating a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience.
  • Proper handling of VIP’s, recognize repeat guests and protect their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure that PUBLIC reporting procedures are aligned with applicable SOP.
  • Ensure all hotel and restaurant policies, standards and local laws are followed.
  • Ensure sanitation fundamentals and Health Department requirements that are set forth by PUBLIC, local, state and federal regulations are in compliance .
  • Ensure compliance with all hotel policies and procedures at all levels.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Know how to participate in a team environment and assist other departments when needed, providing lateral service.
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required
  • Expert in hotel operations and excellent working knowledge of all internal departments.
  • Must have knowledge of building codes.
  • Must have the ability to obtain FLSD
  • Maintain a high level of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and late hours when necessary.
  • Must have general computer skills to include email and other business applications
  • Must have the ability to report to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives .
