White Barn Inn, Auberge Collection, a luxury property in Kennebunk, Maine, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead maintenance and safety programs ensuring guest comfort and operations excellence. You will collaborate with hotel leadership and supervise technicians to sustain plumbing, HVAC, electrical, spa and pool utilities and carpentry tasks.

Qualifications

  • Must have proven experience in hotel engineering, including plumbing, HVAC, electric, spa and pool utilities, and carpentry.
  • Three years’ operating experience in the engineering department of a hotel or closely related industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Work as an active member of the management team and support all hotel operations.
  • Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair and maintenance with discreet, guest-friendly personnel.
  • Prioritize and resolve maintenance requests efficiently.
  • Develop, train, and supervise a team of technicians to meet standards.
  • Oversee mechanical repairs, transportation preventative maintenance, and grounds teams.
  • Ensure fire system is operating properly and train the maintenance team on safety protocols.
  • Act as the go-to in the absence of the Director of Engineering.

Job Description

Working at Auberge requires a pursuit of excellence in luxury service delivery, and this role requires that same ambition. The Engineering Manager is responsible for working side by side with the team, ensuring guest and colleague comfort and safety at all times.

  • Work as an active member of the management team. Creating professional relationships and active involvement with all hotel operations, including but not limited to; daily, and weekly management meetings, and support to all team members, including Manager on Duty Shifts.
  • Provide in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair, and maintenance using well‑trained, presentable personnel carrying out maintenance work in an efficient, discreet, and guest‑friendly manner.
  • Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritized and are dealt with in an efficient manner.
  • Develop, train, and supervise a team of technically proficient and generally helpful technicians to carry out all maintenance and repair work to standard with technical specifications.
  • Oversee and coordinate mechanical repairs, transportation preventative maintenance, and ground/landscaping teams.
  • Ensure the Fire system is operating properly and train the Maintenance team as well as key team members, i.e. Night Audit on fire emergency protocol
  • Act as the “go to” in the absence of the Director of Engineering
Qualifications
  • Must have proven experience and a solid understanding of plumbing, HVAC, electric, spa and pool utilities, and carpentry.
  • Three years’ operating experience in the engineering department of a hotel or closely related industry. Luxury preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining state and federal health and safety regulations
  • Able to work on a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to departmental and operational needs.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Bi‑Lingual highly appreciated.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Window applications required.
