Job summary

Texas Injection Molding seeks a manufacturing/process engineer to lead the NPI team and develop robust molding processes for new projects. You will provide design input, tooling input, and ensure production efficiency in line with company standards.

Responsibilities include establishing master control plans, coordinating with tooling, and driving continuous improvement across the molding floor while managing budgets and equipment decisions.

Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in Manufacturing environment including process engineering.
  • Understanding of plastic design standards and injection mold design standards.
  • Proficient in CAD and SPC data analysis; proficient in MS Office;

Responsibilities

  • Lead New Product Introduction team to meet project commitments and optimize production efficiency.
  • Establish Master Control Plans and robust injection molding processes with ergonomic workspaces.
  • Set quarterly goals for NPI and tooling teams; provide metric-based assessments.
  • Work with management on department budgets and equipment purchases.
  • Guide continuous improvement focused on production efficiency, scrap, and organization.
  • Oversee manufacturing engineering for robotics, dryers, loaders, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate prioritization with in-house tooling; ensure proper molds and cost targets.
  • Review new projects for manufacturing feasibility and inspection requirements.
  • Maintain molds and oversee outsourced mold builds including DFM and timelines.
  • Support NCR/CR actions with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Job description

Position Purpose:

To support our customers and Texas Injection Molding manufacturing through definition, development and deployment of company process and manufacturing engineering function, including, but not limited to, providing product design aid, tooling/mold design input with complete responsibility for process studies and developing robust manufacturing processes including automation systems for all new projects. Also responsible for production efficiency improvements.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Primary responsible for managing New Product Introduction Team to ensure that new project commitments are met and that all product is produced as efficiently as possible within company standards.
  • Responsible for establishing Master Control Plans including, but not limited to robust injection molding processes, ergonomic workspaces making sure our customers are provided with quality parts; within targeted completion date and that all projects are within the quoted cycle time and set labor standards.
  • Responsible for establishing plans and goals for NPI and tooling team on quarterly basis. Provide assessment using metrics to each team member.
  • Works with management in establishing budgetary needs of department.Follows budget in purchasing decisions on new equipment.
  • Leads continuous improvement team with focus on production efficiency, scrap and organization.
  • Responsible for facility manufacturing engineering, including but not limited to, robotics, dryer, thermolators, loaders, etc. for the efficient production of plastic parts on the molding floor.
  • Responsible to work with in house tooling team in establishing priorities, proper utilization of equipment, meeting set targets, goals and objectives.
  • Responsible to aid reviewing new projects for proper manufacturing setup that allow for efficient processes and ergonomics for our workforce.
  • Responsible for managing all outsourced mold builds, including DFM, Mold Designs, Build Timeframe, and holding vendors and team accountable to set quality and cost standards.
  • Responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of molds including organization and control of customer mold inventory
  • Responsible to work with Accounting on invoicing and closure of NPI jobs within target dates.
  • Provides technical guidance to entire company on the most robust methods of plastics processing, design, mold design, automation and quality control.
  • Aids Project Engineering Team in reviewing new projects in regard to product design, production feasibility, mold design feasibility and to establish inspection requirements as called upon.
  • Responsible for making sure manufacturing cycles are in line with company IQMS standards and to make improvement as necessary.
  • Responsible for providing education/mentoring to other team members.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to Quality for NCR and CR actions including help driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal quality problems or customer complaints.
  • Part of team that establishes, implements and audits company injection mold and machinery preventative maintenance program
Qualifications
Education:
  • 4 year college degree in technical discipline or equivalent work experience
Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in Manufacturing environment including but not limited to process engineering
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of plastic design standards
  • Understanding of injection mold design standards
  • Working knowledge of CAD
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and data analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to make timely fact-based decisions; shows good judgment
  • Proficient in the ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and/or 3D files
  • Ability to work independently and handle projects to completion
  • Ability to oversee and drive projects to profitable completion into production
