Job summary

Davis Machine in Euless, Texas, seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering group responsible for process planning, fixturing, and CNC programming for all parts. The role owns the group’s output, standards, staffing, and customer-facing commitments, with build-phase ownership and direct reporting to the General Manager.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years in aerospace machining.
• Minimum 3 years leading programmers or manufacturing engineers.
• Hands-on multi-axis programming on titanium and aluminum structural components in Mastercam or CATIA V5.
• Direct experience with prime and tier-1 customer engineering: flowdown requirements and nonconformance disposition.
• Ability to manage a production engineering queue against committed dates.
• US person as defined under ITAR/EAR.

Responsibilities

Davis Machine- Engineering Manager- Aerospace Machining

Pay: $110,000-$155,000

Company Overview

Davis Machine is an AS9100-certified precision machining company serving the aerospace industry from a 75,000 sq ft campus in Euless, Texas. The business is built on two complementary lines of work: high-volume, low-mix production of stainless steel, Inconel, and other hard-material components, and low-volume, high-mix machining of complex aluminum and titanium structural parts. Davis is affiliated with sister companies in surface finishing and engineering, giving customers a single group for machined, finished, and engineered components.

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager leads the engineering group responsible for process planning, fixturing, and CNC programming for every part manufactured at Davis, and is accountable for the group's output, standards, staffing, and customer-facing engineering commitments. The group is being rebuilt and expanded; the Engineering Manager will define its structure, its CAM standard (Mastercam for new work, with CATIA V5 retained for the qualified legacy library), and its process and tooling standards. This is a build role with full ownership, reporting directly to the General Manager.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Engineering throughput: new parts released to first cut within 60 days of engineering release; legacy and revised parts supported without disruption to production
• Quoting: ownership of engineering estimates for new work on a quoting platform, with programmer involvement limited to a structured difficulty review
• Customer engineering: final authority on deviations, technical dispositions, and engineer-to-engineer commitments, executed through the Staff Engineer
• Staffing: recruiting, hiring, and development of programmers, the Staff Engineer, and the Manufacturing Engineer; retention of a group that is a direct target for prime recruiting
• Standards: process packets for every running part, tool library (Wintool) with material-specific cutting data, change control for process, tooling, and software changes
• Priority and protection: ownership of the engineering queue and promise dates, and insulation of the group from unplanned demands from other departments

Required Qualifications

• Ten or more years in aerospace machining, including a minimum of three years leading programmers or manufacturing engineers
• Hands-on multi-axis programming experience on titanium and aluminum structural components in Mastercam or CATIA V5, current enough to review and, when needed, produce work
• Demonstrated ownership of quoting or estimating for complex machined components
• Direct experience with prime and tier-1 customer engineering: flowdown requirements, nonconformance disposition, AS9102 first article
• Demonstrated ability to manage a production engineering queue against committed dates
• US person as defined under ITAR/EAR

Preferred Qualifications

• Horizontal machining cell and pallet-system programming
• Turning, Swiss, or Esprit experience
• Experience establishing a CAM standard, tool library, or process documentation system

Schedule And Requirements

First shift Monday through Friday, with extended hours during prove-out and customer deadlines. US person as defined under ITAR/EAR. Background check and drug screen required.
