About This Position

We are seeking an Engineering Manager with expertise in plastic injection molds/injection molding to lead our technical team in the development and optimization of tooling and processes, including automation solutions.

Formerly known as Met2Plastic, LLC, we are a premier custom injection molder and mold builder operating in the Chicago area since 1970. We are a division of France-based DEMGY Group, a $108mm organization with 10 sites located in France, Germany, Romania, and the U.S. We serve the Medical, Aerospace, and Industrial Equipment industries. Our facility has a team of 45 people, and we are growing. Our work environment is collaborative and friendly.

Education And Qualifications

Strong and diverse technical background in injection mold tooling, processing, materials, manufacturing, and quality. B.S. degree in Engineering, Plastics Technology, or a combination of equivalent experience and certification training. At least 5 years of practical work experience in thermoplastic injection molding and/or injection mold building.

Job Skill Requirements
  • Solid understanding of plastic part design, injection mold tooling, thermoplastic injection molding, and automation.
  • Ability to effectively lead and mentor a small technical team with a servant leadership mindset.
  • Ability to use CAD software for part and mold design analysis and limited part and fixture design (Solidworks experience preferred).
  • Both a working knowledge of, and experience with, Scientific Injection Molding principles.
  • Demonstrated good communication (written and verbal), organizational skills, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking ability to think out of the box and recommend options.
  • Experience with risk analysis and problem-solving tools.
  • Strong computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead Engineering Department & New Program Development: Oversee engineering activity including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP/program management), tooling design and development, process development, and automation development.
  • Collaborate with customers: Optimize part designs to meet manufacturing requirements, optimize part performance, and meet target cost requirements.
  • Develop and implement tooling specifications: Design standards and qualification processes to ensure expected product quality and production output requirements.
  • Identify automation opportunities: Reduce cost, improve uptime, and improve product quality; collaborate with automation service providers and internal resources to develop and implement automation solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource: Analyze existing processes; develop and implement solutions to drive improvement in product cost and product quality.
  • Identify and develop new technologies: Complement/enhance Demgy Chicago offerings in metal replacement applications.
  • Work with customers and internal departments: Resolve technical issues related to part design, materials, and processes.
