Job description

Our client is a globally recognized contract manufacturer of thermoplastic injection-molded parts for the aerospace, medical, and industrial sectors. In business for over 55 years, they are rapidly growing and have been voted a "best place to work" in plastics news this year. Due to their company growth, they are seeking an engineer or engineer that's passionate for developing new applications and processes.

Position Overview:

With overall responsibility for the engineering and development activity of the operation, the mission of the Engineering Manager is to work with the internal team in offering customers world-class technical solutions through the development of new tooling and processes, implementation of new technology and automation solutions, and optimization of existing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of Engineering Department & New Program Development
    • Oversee engineering department activity including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP / program management), tooling design and development, process development, and automation development
    • Complete technical reviews of customer part designs; collaborate with customers to optimize part designs to meet manufacturing requirements, optimize part performance, and meet target cost requirements
    • Work with operations and quality management/team members to develop process standards to ensure consistent processing of products
  • Tooling Development
    • Develop and implement tooling specifications, design standards, and qualification processes to ensure expected product quality and production output requirements
    • Assess and select tooling suppliers as needed to carry out toolbuilding requirements
  • Automation Development
    • Identify automation opportunities to reduce cost, improve uptime, and improve product quality
    • Collaborate with automation service providers and internal resources to develop and implement automation solutions
  • Continuous Improvement / Ongoing Support
    • Analyze existing processes; develop and implement solutions to drive improvement in product cost and product quality
    • Serve as a technical resource to production, tooling, and quality departments
    • Work with customers and internal departments to resolve technical issues related to part design, materials, and processes
    • Manage product obsolescence and changes
  • New Technology Development
    • Identify and develop new technologies to compliment/enhance offerings in different applications
    • Transfer technical knowledge to the team via procedures, training, and technical manuals / databanks

Requirements

  • 5+ years of diverse technical background in injection mold tooling, processing, materials and manufacturability.
  • B.S degree in engineered is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience a proven engineering leader or senior level project, tooling or manufacturing engineer.
  • Ability to use CAD software for part and mold design analysis.
  • Solid understanding of plastic injection molding part design, tooling and possibly scientific injection molding principles.

Compensation:
$120,000-$140,000 per year
