Nightwing Intelligence Solutions, LLC seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Maryland CODEX engineering team, responsible for development, mentoring, and management of engineers across programs. You’ll ensure resources meet on-contract work, IRAD, and FEOTB needs.
Reports to the Director of Engineering, Technology, and Solutions EM. You will drive staffing, performance management, and leadership support to advance technical excellence and program success.

CODEX is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Maryland engineering team. As an Engineering Manager at CODEX, you will be accountable for the development, mentoring, and management of engineers supporting multiple programs within the CODEX portfolio. You will ensure the business has capable and qualified resources to support execution initiatives across standard on-contract work, internal research and development (IRAD), and front-end-of-the-business (FEOTB) activities.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Technology, and Solutions EM.
Develop and mentor engineers within assigned teams, offering career development guidance, technical mentorship, and professional growth opportunities to build workforce capability and technical excellence Cultivate an environment and reputation that makes you a resource engineers actively want to work for, supporting both retention of current talent and recruitment of new personnel Establish and maintain feedback systems for engineering personnel, capturing input from technical execution teams and FEOTB personnel Translate feedback into actionable performance management plans, career development activities, and personnel decisions
Design, develop, and execute strategies to staff execution initiatives with capable and qualified personnel based on technical requirements, clearance needs, and individual performers career goals Conduct workforce management activities including hiring, retention, and performance-based personnel actions Conduct staffing and workload forecasting; recruit new talent from entry-level through senior-level positions to meet program requirements Support proposals and business development by identifying appropriate technical staff, validating resource availability and qualifications, and ensuring proposed personnel can fulfill commitment requirements Identify staffing needs, support recruitment efforts, and implement retention strategies
Conduct regular performance feedback sessions, complete performance reviews, and implement performance adjustment pathways when necessary Provide recognition for exceptional contributions and support professional development initiatives Identify skill gaps, coordinate training opportunities, and ensure engineers maintain required certifications and clearances for their assigned work
Provide input to Senior Leadership on workforce capability, technical skill gaps, and training needs that affect current and future technical execution Support the CODEX Director of Engineering and Technology as well as the broader CODEX Leadership Team Coordinate with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Technical Directors to ensure successful program execution

The salary associated with this position ($147,000-$296,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
