Job summary

Davidson Hospitality Group seeks an Engineering Manager for Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, A Hilton Resort & Spa, to lead engineering operations and maintain equipment at a luxury beachfront property in Carlsbad, CA.

You will coach staff, manage preventative maintenance, budgets, and life-safety systems while upholding Hilton service standards and collaborating with hotel leadership for exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Hotel, institutional HVAC experience 3–5 years.
• HVAC certification or journeyman level is required.
• Previous management or supervisory experience 2–3 years.
• Read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, life safety systems.
• Basic computer and administrative skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with public and other employees.
• Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction.
• No employee will pose a direct threat to health/safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering outside engineering vendor contracts.
• Assist in establishing, implementing, maintaining preventative maintenance schedule.
• Assist in monitoring and controlling parts and labor expenditures.
• Assist in selecting, training, supervising, developing, disciplining, and counseling employees.
• Communicate with supervisor regarding all aspects of engineering operations.
• Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, inspiring employees to meet and exceed standards.
• Direct and maintain all record keeping processes and systems.
• Ensure all life systems are operational and meet requirements.
• Fulfill risk control duties as assigned.
• Implement safety procedures in department.
• Inspect and document physical plant, equipment, hazards, systems, and general engineering operation.
• Maintain work areas clean and organized.
• Promote employee empowerment.
• Respond to life system alarms.
• Prioritize all work requests impacting guests and staff.
• Cross train and perform duties as needed.
• Order and receive supplies; manage inventories and purchasing.
• Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.
• Attend mandatory meetings.

Overview

An Engineering Manager maintains high morale for engineering; teach engineering staff how to maintain and repair equipment; solicit suggestions or input from other members of the engineering team; coach or counsel team members effectively; staff consistently achieves standards for the department; discuss problems with employees as they come up; understand the hotel’s human resources policies and procedures; treat all employees fairly; use appropriate staffing levels for work demand; promotes hotel service standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, life safety systems, preventative maintenance systems and all related engineering disciplines.
• Basic computer skills, administrative skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with public and other employees.
• No employee will pose a direct threat to the health/safety of self or others.
• Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction.
