M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking an Engineer Leader 1 to support and lead engineering projects in Richmond, Virginia. You will play a vital role in fostering client trust while ensuring adherence to engineering best practices across various disciplines.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline and have extensive experience in technical project leadership. This role provides the opportunity to mentor upcoming engineers while driving innovative technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferably from an ABET accredited program.
• 7+ years of experience in Engineering with Construction experience.
• Master's Degree preferred with 5+ years of experience.

The Engineer Leader 1 (EL1) supports, participates in, and leads projects/programs while building client trust and validating world‑class solutions. The EL1 leads engineering best practices across several disciplines and brings experience with coaching and mentoring concepts and methods.

Responsibilities

• Leading complex technical discussions, projects, and/or programs.
• Validating world‑class technical solutions on projects.
• Ensuring engineering best practices are followed across multiple engineering and solution disciplines.
• Managing technical risk on a project.
• Providing oversight, direction, and technical expertise to engineering teams on a project.
• Leading an engineering discipline to develop new and upcoming engineers and technical experts.
• Preparing client‑specific solutions.
• Driving the development and maintenance of project artifacts that are required to ensure success for a project.
• Identifying, recommending, and implementing work process improvements.
• Reviewing technical project details with project leadership.
• Managing the integration of data from multiple company systems and analyzing the data to draw insights on project technical solution.
• Ensuring safety regulations are adhered to and issues identified and resolved.
• Maintaining a positive, assertive relationship with project engineers to achieve project milestones and overall project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Physics preferably from an ABET accredited program with 7+ years of experience in any Engineering discipline with Construction experience
• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Physics preferably from an ABET accredited program with 5+ years of experience in any Engineering discipline with Construction experience

Preferred Education and Training

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) certification
• Design‑Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification
• Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) training
• National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) training

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of one or more technologies and various application methods.

• Tools experience: MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access), MS Outlook, Engineering Document Management System (EDMS), Microsoft Visio, SharePoint, SureTrak.
• Proficiency with all M.C. Dean applications (including, but not limited to, Job Connect, EVMS, Timesheets, Accubid, Infralink, Forms).
