Job summary

New Flyer is seeking an Engineering Lead to align stakeholder efforts with organizational strategy and drive proactive risk management. You will lead cross-functional teams across design, production, and service phases to ensure on-time, compliant engineering outcomes.

The role emphasizes technical credibility, process optimization, and collaboration to strengthen design integrity and engineering excellence across projects and supplier interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Certified Engineering Technologist designation.
• 5+ years in a related engineering or project leadership role; or 3+ years technical experience internal to NFI/MCI.
• Advanced technical and project management capabilities; strong communication and leadership.
• Proficiency with NX, Teamcenter, Oracle, ePlanner, Excel and A3 reporting.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications to identify gaps in product or process and provide risk details to Bids & Sales.
• Represent Production Engineering in vendor interactions and evaluate supplier quotes at bid stage
• Provide technical guidance and oversight to engineering teams tailored to customer specifications
• Proactively identify project risks and initiate validation to ensure build requirements meet standards (APTA, SAE, FMVSS, CMVSS, ADA, CARB, etc.)
• Manage New Design Integration (NDI) projects: set SMART goals, facilitate reviews, monitor KPIs, assign tasks, report status end-to-end
• Provide technical leadership by reviewing and approving Engineering Change Notification packages to maintain continuity and deadlines
• Coordinate release and tracking of approval drawings to customers aligning with milestones
• Collaborate on vendor/customer design issues and alternate sourcing strategies
• Act as liaison between Engineering and departments like Customer Program Management, Vehicle Application Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Production, Quality, and Service Engineering
• Support product standardization and design integration across Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
• Identify design improvement opportunities and present initiatives to Change Control Board
• Other duties as assigned
