Job summary

The J. M. Smucker Co. is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to assist in coordinating and executing maintenance activities in our Virginia plant. This role ensures a safe, reliable, and efficient operation by overseeing work orders and guiding the engineering team.

Responsibilities include scheduling, performance monitoring, safety training, and preparing maintenance instructions in compliance with plant procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Post-secondary education in industrial engineering preferred.
• Previous work experience in industrial engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on priority and available personnel.
• Monitor employees' work levels and review performance.
• Oversee maintenance of tool inventories and shop conditions to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Counsel employees on work-related issues and address skill deficiencies.
• Coordinate and arrange worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques.
• Inspect work areas, tools, and equipment and provide safety training to prevent violations.
• Inspect, test, and measure completed work to verify conformance to standards.
• Requisition materials and replacement parts as needed.
• Perform skilled repair and maintenance using hand/power tools, presses, and welding equipment.
• Ensure activities are performed in accordance with procedures and regulations.
• Prepare work instructions for corrective and preventive maintenance.
