Job summary

The Kraft Heinz Company in Chicago is seeking an experienced Capital Projects Manager to lead large-scale projects across the full lifecycle, from front-end development to startup and closeout. This role requires hands-on engineering leadership, cost control, and cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Engineering and 5–7 years of capital project management experience, with the ability to travel up to 50% across North America.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering from an accredited school
  • 5-7 years of full cycle project management experience
  • Experience in capital project governance, vendor management, scheduling, risk management
  • Strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems, packaging methods, electronics and electrical systems
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including days, afternoons, midnights, and overtime
  • Direct/Lead/Manage cross functional teams on large capital projects/programs of $20MM or more
  • Travel up to 50%

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects through full lifecycle, including front end development, cost estimating, execution, commissioning, startup and closeout
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, efficiency and lifecycle cost
  • Prepare specifications and technical plans and product testing with cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate activities concerning technical developments, scheduling, and testing problems
  • Control expenditures within project budget and create bid documents with R&D, Quality, Operations
  • Prepare interim and final project reports for technical and stakeholder audiences
  • Provide functional and technical support to factories to minimize production and maintenance problems
  • Apply engineering expertise to equipment design, problem solving and quality improvement
  • Support PRC and key projects as technical advisor or project manager
  • Adhere to TQM principles and establish processes to meet customer requirements

Essential Functions& Responsibilities:

  • To ensure projects are completed on time within budget or with successful attainment ofobjectives.
  • Lead capital projects through the full project lifecycle, including front end development, cost estimating, execution, commissioning,startupand project close out.

  • Completes specific phases or aspects of the project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Creates detailed technical scope and equipment bid documents incollaborationswith R&D, Quality, Operations, and other cross-functional teams as applicable.
  • Prepares interim andcompletionproject reportsfor both technical and stakeholder audiences.
  • Provide functional and technical support to the factories to minimize production and maintenance problems.
  • Apply engineeringexpertiseto equipment design, problemsolving, and quality improvement.

Expected Experience & Required Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school or related field isrequired
  • 5-7 years of experience of full cycle project management experience
  • Experience in capital project governance, vendor management, project scheduling, risk management, leadership, communication, and experience managing multiple concurrent capital projects across several sites.
  • Strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems, packagingmethods, andmaterials, electronics and computer applications, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to worktoflexiblescheduleincluding days, afternoons, midnights, and overtime as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to Direct/Lead/Manage cross functional teams on large capital project/programs of $20MM or more.

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is considered aNormaloffice environment with moderate travel to customer locations, stores, manufacturing facilities, etc.; offices are open workspacesAdditionally, this role requiresnormal working hours.Up to 50%travelrequiredacross North America.

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$141,500.00 - $176,900.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
