Job summary

Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) seeks a senior-level professional to lead a team that develops and coordinates Large Load Batch planning studies, identifying transmission projects to address near- and long-term reliability needs. You will serve as the department's technical expert and liaise with stakeholders.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate across ERCOT departments to implement system changes, and present analyses to management and regulatory bodies as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum of 5 years experience in system planning.
• Prior experience supervising or leading a team or project preferred.
• Prefer experience programming and developing simulation automation tools (Python).
• Prefer experience assisting in the development of improvements to transmission planning processes and familiarity with NERC reliability standards.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team that develops and coordinates ERCOT Large Load Batch planning studies and identifies transmission projects to address near- and long-term reliability needs.
• Structures appropriate planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for improvements and evaluates proposed projects with technical and financial analyses.
• Serves as the recognized technical expert for the department within and outside the organization.
• Provides on-the-job training, mentoring or oversight of the work of other engineers/analysts as required.
• Collaborates with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as needed.
• Communicates results of analyses to appropriate stakeholders and management, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
• Examines and determines efficiency improvements for departmental processes and procedures.
• Serves as the departmental representative on cross-functional teams, offering technical, business, and policy guidance.
• Provides quality assurance and best practices resources within and outside the department.
• Builds strong professional relationships internally and externally.
• Leads the work of projects and audits as assigned by management.
