Job summary

Moog Military Aircraft Group seeks an Engineering Lab Technician for the Torrance, CA facility. The role supports environmental and functional testing of aircraft hardware, involving setup, data collection, analysis, and documentation in a first-shift, onsite environment.

You will work under the Section Head, Engineering Lab, and participate in test planning, readiness reviews, and compliance with aerospace testing standards. US citizenship and security clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; ability to understand and follow English instructions and perform basic math.
• Relevant military experience, trade-school training, technical certifications, or associate degree may be considered.
• Model the highest safety standards within the lab environment.
• Ability to interpret test specifications, drawings, and procedures.
• Ability to document test activities and communicate technical information.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety in the lab and test-site.
• Identify hazards related to temperatures, pressures, rotating equipment, noise, oils, solvents, LN2 and electrical energy.
• Set up unit under test and associated equipment per procedures.
• Inspect test setups for compliance with procedures and safety requirements.
• Conduct tests and monitor critical parameters; verify test requirements.
• Collect, process, and analyze data using MATLAB, DIAdem, Excel, and data-acquisition systems.
• Prepare test data and documentation for engineering and customer review.
• Investigate anomalies and communicate issues clearly.

Job Title: Engineering Lab Technician

Reporting To: Section Head, Engineering Lab

Work Schedule: Onsite – Torrance, CA

Moog Military Aircraft Group is seeking an Engineering Lab Technician on 1st shift to support environmental and functional testing for the evaluation, development, verification, and qualification of aircraft hardware. You will set up and operate tests, collect and analyze data, maintain a safe and controlled test environment, document results, and support test planning and readiness reviews. Report to Engineering Lab Section Head, and you will have an on-site work in Torrance, California. Schedule: First shift (6:00am-2:30pm) Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and weekend support.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division Dispatch or equivalent work experience 5 years or more of relevant experience (testing, electromechanical setup, data analysis).
• Relevant military experience, trade-school training, technical certifications, or an associate degree may be considered when evaluating equivalent qualifications.

• Ability to interpret test specifications, technical drawings, and written procedures.
• Ability to accurately document test activities and communicate technical information.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Experience

• Experience testing to RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, or comparable aerospace and defense standards.
• Experience with endurance, fatigue, limit-load, ultimate-load, thermal, and acceptance test procedures (ATPs).
• Experience supporting vibration, pressure-altitude, icing, humidity, sand-and-dust, salt fog, and thermal-shock testing.
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems and sensor interfaces, including thermocouples, encoders, current shunts, LVDTs, accelerometers, and similar devices.
• Experience using temperature chambers, digital multimeters, milliohm meters, dielectric testers, torque tools, thermocouples, and related laboratory equipment.
• Experience with MATLAB, NI DIAdem, and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or other regulated test environments.

Responsibilities

• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory and test-site safety.
• Identify and control hazards associated with high and low temperatures, elevated pressures, rotating equipment, high noise, oils, solvents, liquid nitrogen, and electrical energy.
• Review test specifications and set up the unit under test and associated equipment according to approved procedures.
• Inspect test setups to verify compliance with applicable procedures, safety requirements, and configuration controls.
• Conduct tests while monitoring critical parameters and verifying compliance with test requirements.
• Collect, process, and analyze test data using MATLAB, NI DIAdem, Microsoft Excel, and laboratory data-acquisition systems.
• Complete data sheets, generate plots, and maintain detailed test logs.
• Prepare test data and documentation for engineering and customer review.
• Apply sound technical judgment when investigating test anomalies and communicate issues appropriately.
