Job summary

BSK Associates is seeking an Engineering Lab Technician in Livermore, CA to assist in setting up instrumentation and performing materials testing on soils, steel, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. You will log samples, analyze data, and ensure accurate test reports, working with ASTM standards where applicable.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 0–1 year of experience; no certifications are required.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent is required.
• 0–1 year of experience in construction inspection or materials testing preferred.
• No certifications are required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the setup of scientific instrumentation and equipment for testing and experiments.
• Accurately log samples and maintain detailed records of collected materials.
• Perform materials sampling and testing of soils, reinforced steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing and hot mix asphalt.
• Analyze and interpret test data and report findings accurately.
• Support investigation of issues, identify problems, and suggest corrective actions.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of testing equipment to ensure accuracy.

Job-Type: Full-Time Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00pm *Occasional weekends and nights

• The pay range for this position is $22.95-$32.40paid hourly, offers will be based on the successful candidate's experience.

Role and Responsibilities

Assist in the setup of scientific instrumentation and equipment for testing and experiments.

Accurately log samples and maintain detailed records of collected materials.

Perform materials sampling and construction materials testing of soils, reinforced steel, concrete,masonry, fireproofing and hot mix asphalt using scientific equipment to determine their properties.

Analyze and interpret test data and report findings accurately.

Support the investigation of issues, identify problems, and suggest corrective actions.

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability

Knowledge of ASTM standards, ACI and Caltrans standards

Conduct material testing to determine acceptance of various materials and products used in highwayproject development and construction

Have and maintain a clean driving record

Clearly write lab material/lab reports and test results

• Experience in construction inspection and materials testing with the ability to observe work adhering toapplicable specifications and accepted standards/methods.
