Job summary

Penn State's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department seeks a Lab Coordinator - Engineering to organize teaching and research labs, ensure safety, readiness, and compliance, and support faculty, researchers, staff, and students.

The role also serves as the department's primary purchaser for lab needs, maintaining equipment inventories, coordinating repairs, calibrations, and vendor purchasing, while coordinating inspections and safety training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Experience coordinating engineering or lab operations preferred.
• Ability to coordinate safety activities, purchasing, and vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate laboratory scheduling, setup, teardown, and readiness for teaching and research activities.
• Support faculty, researchers, staff, and students in planning experiments and ensuring proper equipment use.
• Serve as laboratory safety officer and lead inspections, safety training, and incident documentation.
• Coordinate facility repairs, upgrades, and vendor coordination for lab spaces and equipment.
• Maintain inventories, records, and documentation for labs, including purchasing activity.
