Job summary

Wabash Valley Power Alliance in Indianapolis, Indiana, invites engineering interns to support the Engineering team by assisting with analyses, project activities, and reviews while gaining practical experience in utility operations and infrastructure development.

You will help with engineering calculations, review design prints and reports, examine calculations, support substation/transmission projects, and interface with Member Cooperatives on engineering services.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Two years toward a bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering.
• Power systems coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering calculations and studies following good engineering and utility practices.
• Review design prints, study reports, equipment specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
• Examine calculations, studies, and design packages performed by internal and external staff.
• Support substation/transmission project teams through procurement and construction management activities.
• Interface with Member Cooperatives related to engineering services on various distribution matters.

Job Description

Objective:

Support the Engineering team by assisting with technical analyses, project activities, and engineering reviews while gaining practical experience in utility operations and infrastructure development.

As an engineering intern at WVPA you will:

• Assistwith various engineering calculations and studies following good engineering and utility practices.
• Reviewengineering deliverables including: design prints, study reports, equipment specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
• Examinecalculations, studies, and design packages performed by both internal and external engineering staff
• Supportsubstation/transmission line project teams through procurement and construction management activities
• Interfacewith Member Cooperatives related to engineering services on various distribution matter

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Must be currently enrolled at a college or university in an ABET accredited program
• Completion of at least two years towards a Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering.

Preferred Education/Experience:

• Coursework in Power Systems is a plus
