iENG Design is seeking an undergraduate student who is completing their bachelor’s in mechanical engineering to join our 2026 Summer Internship Program. iENG's method of engineering is unique: We begin with the end in mind, and we challenge everything. iENG Design is headquartered in Chesterfield, MO and has branch offices in Granite City, IL, Nashville, TN and Charlotte, NC. Services & Capabilities include: Engineering & Design, VDC/BIM Coordination, Construction Support, Scheduling, Commissioning, Retro Commissioning and Inspection Services. iENG currently ranks as one of the largest engineering/design firms by revenue in the region.

We are currently looking for Undergraduate students to join our team as an Engineering Intern based out of our Charlotte, NC office. Our ideal candidates for this role will be in their sophomore or junior year pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree.

Primary responsibilities for our Engineering Intern include:
  • Assisting in engineering design efforts to create construction
  • documents on assigned projects with systems including HVAC, process piping and duct work
  • Assisting in the preparation of project specifications for HVAC and piping designs
  • Joining project site visits to understand the necessary field data for designs
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of shop drawings and submittals for conformance to construction documents and specifications
  • Collaborating with other team members, learning how to communicate with clients, utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding the overall concept of the company, including brand, clients, goals, and all other aspects of the engineering department
  • Accepting designated, business-focused internship projects to research, propose ideas and solutions and present final project
  • Learning and becoming proficient on internal software systems
Primary qualifications for our Engineering Interns include:
  • Currently an Undergraduate student completing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering degree from an accredited institution)
  • Currently a sophomore or junior in college
  • Possesses a strong personal commitment for long-term and meaningful goals
  • Ability to work within an environment with deadlines while having to multi-task with changing priorities
  • Self-motivated with excellent time and communication skills
  • Demonstrates confidence in their working knowledge and is committed to researching/asking for the answers to find the right solutions for things they do not know.
COMPENSATION AND HOURS:
  • Compensation: $21/hr
  • Working Hours: Full-Time (40 hrs/week) with a flexible start and end date.
