Job summary

Griffith Company in California offers a paid Summer Internship Program across Bakersfield, Brea, San Diego, Santa Fe Springs and project sites in Southern and Central California. You will work closely with Project Managers, Estimators and field personnel on real tasks and learn through a 1-on-1 meeting with executives.

As an intern you will assist in CPM scheduling, takeoffs, submittals, RFIs and reviews of plans.

Qualifications

• Students must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision).
• Assist in developing and maintaining a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.
• Track 1 or more of the following: submittals, RFI's and contract change orders, daily cost vs. project budget, quantities and equipment and project logs.
• Attend bid review meetings with estimating team to understand the estimate process.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports and existing site conditions to determine scope of work.
• Complete material and quantity take offs according to project scope of work.
• Assist superintendent and foreman with layout and other technical requirements.
• Assist with diesel emissions control plans and monitoring.
• Preparation of work plans and or storm water protection plans.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

What you can expect

As a summer intern you can expect to handle a variety of real world tasks in support of our Project Managers, Estimators, Project Engineers and or field personnel. Below is an example of intern responsibilities:

You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to accept.

Qualifications

Students must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas or a very similar area:

• Civil Engineering
• Construction Management
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mathematics

Hourly Wage Range

$22.00 - $27.00 (depending on internship and educational experience).
