Job summary

American Electric Power’s Summer Internship Program invites top college students to a 10–12 week paid internship in Fort Wayne, IN. You’ll work on real projects, learn from industry leaders, and receive mentorship while developing core engineering skills.

Eligibility includes pursuing an ABET-accredited Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree, completing freshman year, and graduating after December 2027. You must be 18+. Relocation may be required.

  • Must have completed freshman year and be 18+ years old.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams on planning, design and execution of enterprise resource projects.
  • Engage in design reviews, training sessions and constructability assessments.
  • Participate in field visits to understand power system operations and assist in inspections and tests.
  • Assist in development and analyses of databases, reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Support documentation for initiatives aimed at improving safety and operational performance.
