Job summary

ZF Axle Drives in Marysville, MI is seeking an Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience in lab operations and to support warranty teardown analyses, root-cause investigations, and process improvements. You will work with the Axle Lab to organize space, analyze warranty issues, coordinate engineering tasks at the plant, and maintain inventory in road tests and non-production parts.

Requires pursuing a Bachelor's in Engineering, strong MS Excel, and ability to work in a team; U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite; strong understanding of MS Excel in macros and formulas.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize with guidance from multiple sources.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the Axle Lab Area is organized and supplied with necessary resources and tools.
• Perform and document detailed analysis of warranty issues and other product failures.
• Support the warranty review process related to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate engineering tasks or projects at the manufacturing plant level.
• Utilize QDM for engineering tasks as assigned.
• Move product/containers for drive unit extraction and replacement.
• Coordinate with logistics to maintain FIFO and SAP changes.
• Maintain inventory accuracy in road tests, teardown, and non-production parts.

About the Team: The engineering team at ZF Axle Drives in Marysville, MI is focused on driving innovation, product reliability, and continuous improvement across the plant. Within this team, the engineering lab plays a critical role in supporting department functions such as quality and warranty teardown evaluations, assembly projects, and cross-functional collaboration. The team works closely with quality and other departments to conduct detailed investigations and builds related to product development, failures, and warranty concerns. To support these efforts, the team is currently seeking an intern who will gain hands-on experience in lab operations and contribute to initiatives that enhance the quality and performance of ZF’s driveline products and manufacturing processes.

What you can look forward to as an Engineering Intern:

• Ensure the Axle Lab Area is organized & has the necessary resources & tools to perform tasks.
• Perform and document detailed analysis of warranty issues and other product failures.
• Support the warranty review process related to root cause analysis of failure and corrective actions.
