Job summary

Forvia is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Maintenance/Controls team in Louisville, KY. The role offers hands-on experience in the automotive sector, focusing on troubleshooting, PLC/HMI development, and creating new manufacturing stations.

You will collaborate with the engineering team and cross-functional groups to drive continuous improvement, optimize processes, and support various engineering projects throughout the internship.

Position Summary:


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our Maintenance/Controls team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the automotive industry, working on projects that drive efficiency and innovation in our manufacturing processes.



Your profile and competencies to succeed

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Maintenance and controls team in breakdown troubleshooting and repair. Along with future preventative measures.

  • Learn various software packages to create and edit PLCs, HMI, Vision systems, etc..

  • Work with the engineering team to create new manufacturing stations from scratch.

  • Assist the Controls engineers in the analysis and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (logistics, quality, and HSE) to design and implement process and equipment improvements.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to problem‑solving efforts.

  • Provide support for various engineering projects as needed.


Qualifications:


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and tools.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

  • Preferred Prior internship or project experience in a manufacturing environment
