Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
• Some College Coursework Completed.
• Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, and project design.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Calculate construction quantities from plans and specifications to tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs.
• Provide drafting support using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Prepare and route project-related correspondence and maintain project records.
• Assist with writing and editing construction specifications and technical reports.
• Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals.
• Respond to inquiries from clients, coworkers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to complete work tasks.
• Prioritize special projects and daily workload to ensure timely completion of assignments.

Job Description

The Engineer Intern will assist with a variety of engineering projects across Montana and Wyoming. This role provides the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals who will support your civil engineering development through one‑on‑one mentorship. Throughout the internship, you will work with engineering applications and software to analyze data, develop design solutions, draft technical documents, and prepare design packages. You may also have opportunities to collaborate with other related disciplines.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Under the direction of a licensed engineer:

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, and project design.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Calculate construction quantities from plans and specifications to tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Apply mathematical concepts, such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred but not required).
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Self‑motivated, eager to learn, and able to work independently.

Required Education and Experience:
