The City of Peoria's Development and Engineering Department/Engineering Services Division has an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Inspector that will serve as a liaison between the contractor, developer, utility company, and other City departments and staff. The position will perform journey level work in the inspection of development projects, construction of various City infrastructure projects, and non-City utilities. Responsibilities include inspecting workmanship and materials, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and departmental regulations.

Ideal candidate qualities:

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in civil inspections, monitoring construction, and acceptance testing in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of temporary traffic control, stormwater pollution inspection, and field-testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school plus additional coursework (up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent).

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably in similar roles.

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy physical exertion required; capable of lifting 25-50 pounds.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License upon hire.
  • APWA Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) required within one year of hire in the area of assignment.
