Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) for the Honors Seminar series in a part-time Winter 2027 appointment. The GSI will co-teach with the primary instructor, attend classes, grade assignments, take attendance, and manage logistics, Canvas communications, and emails for each section.

Ideal candidates have prior experience facilitating discussions, as well as teaching experience or related roles such as ambassador or common reading experiences.

Qualifications

• To be considered, you must be a University of Michigan graduate student in good standing and taking at least 6 credit hours in Winter 2027.
• Applicants must have successfully completed ENGR 230, ENGR 330, and ENGR 430 to be considered.
• You must be able to attend scheduled classes, including the full day class on Saturday, January 30th.

Responsibilities

• Co-teach with the primary instructor for every Honors Seminar.
• Meet with each instructor before every class.
• Grade assignments and take attendance.
• Assign make-up work and ensure logistics and room reservations are confirmed.
• Communicate with students in Canvas and manage emails for each section.
