Job summary

JLL is seeking a Skilled Engineering Helper to join the Building Engineering Department at Harborside Plaza 2 & 3 in Jersey City, NJ. The role supports safe and efficient operation of a large Class A office campus and works under the Chief Engineer and Building Engineers.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical aptitude, a strong safety mindset, and willingness to learn through IUOE Local 68 training. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in commercial building operations.
• Previous experience in commercial maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, industrial maintenance, or a related trade preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and building equipment.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and basic testing equipment.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Building Engineers with operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building mechanical systems.
• Perform assigned preventative maintenance tasks and routine building maintenance activities.
• Complete individual work assignments as directed by Engineering Management.
• Support engineers during equipment inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, and emergency response situations.
• Assist with operation and maintenance of AHUs, VAVs, pumps, motors, and related equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe mechanical rooms and workspaces.
• Assist contractors and vendors performing work within the property.
• Maintain records of completed work in the maintenance system.
