Job summary

Intertek in Dupont, WA is seeking an Engineering Field Technician I to join our Building & Construction team. You will perform testing and site assessments under supervision, report data, and support field operations on construction projects.

The role offers hands-on testing of soil, concrete and asphalt, plus documentation, client communication, and adherence to safety standards. A Nuclear Gauge Operator Certification and a valid driver’s license are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 30–50 pounds frequently; occasional over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Willingness to work outdoors in heat or cold and at various heights.
• U.S. citizenship as required for Navy installation work.
• Nuclear Gauge Operator Certification (APNGA or equivalent) is preferred.

Responsibilities

What are we looking for?

The Engineering Field Technician I

Performs a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

The base wage or salary range for this position is $22/h - $38/h. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:

• Operate testing equipment and conduct construction testing (example: Soil, concrete, asphalt, or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
• Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
• Use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Nuclear Gauge Operator Certification (APNGA or equivalent)
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally and be able to walk/stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
• Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
• Ability to work over night hours and off shift
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
• Ability and willingness to work off shift and overtime as needed

Important Eligibility Requirement:

Due to the requirements of the U.S. Government contract and the nature of the work performed on a U.S. Navy installation, U.S. citizenship is required for this position. The selected candidate must also successfully complete all applicable Navy installation access and background screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year Construction Materials / Density Testing experience
• ACI Field Technician I certification or other construction related certifications
