Job summary

DEKANEY HS in Houston, TX seeks an Engineering/Career and Technical Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role reports to the Principal and carries exempt status with a teacher salary scale.

The ideal candidate will hold a Texas teaching certification in Technical Education or related fields and have a strong background in engineering education, curriculum planning, and safety compliance. Immediate start; 187 days per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas teaching certification in one of the following: Technical Education; Trade and Industrial with appropriate work experience; Math, Physics Engineering Certification or Secondary Science.
• At least one year of student teaching or approved internship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with the Director of Career & Technical Education to meet state guidelines and provide a consistent program.
• Provides instruction consistent with District curriculum.
• Plans and administers individualized study programs to meet students’ needs.
• Conducts safety training and maintains required documentation.
• Maintains discipline in accordance with local policy.
• Develops and revises CTE curriculum with the CTE Program Specialist.
• Provides work-based learning experiences for students in Engineering.
• Sponsors the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and engages with business partners.
