Job summary

Compass Education is seeking a Head of Engineering to own end-to-end engineering delivery and people leadership for our growing engineering org spanning Compass, SchoolBytes, Griddle and Clipboard.

Reporting to the CPTO, you will translate priorities into predictable execution, develop Development Managers, and shape the operating model for 40–50 engineers across AU, UK and Ireland. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience leading through engineering managers across multiple teams in a product-led SaaS environment.
• Track record of owning delivery outcomes across multi-team scopes.
• Experience scaling engineering organisations and establishing repeatable practices.
• Strong people leadership, coaching and development of managers.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering delivery performance across all squads in partnership with Product.
• Establish a consistent engineering operating model for planning, estimation and release practices.
• Own headcount planning, hiring and onboarding with CPTO and People & Culture.
• Develop engineering metrics and report on cycle time, quality, reliability and team health.
• Partner with Product leadership to align capacity with roadmap priorities.
