Colliers Engineering & Design in Columbia, Maryland is seeking an Engineering Designer to join our Civil/Site team. You will assist with site development plans, perform engineering calculations, and produce drawings using Civil 3D under the guidance of experienced engineers.

This entry-level role offers hands-on training, exposure to multi-discipline projects, field inspections, and opportunities to grow toward professional licensure as an Engineer in Training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0-2+ years of related experience.
• Engineer in Training preferred.
• Strong CAD skills including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WaterCAD.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
• Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project and incorporating changes.
• Ensure designs meet standards and perform QA/QC checks.
• Interpret drawings from multiple disciplines and respond to RFIs.
• Conduct field inspections and surveys and document findings.
• Research and apply code provisions to design.
• Use Civil 3D daily and support project design discussions.

As an Engineering Designer, you'll contribute to site development plans, perform engineering calculations, create designs using Civil 3D, and help develop innovative solutions from concept through completion. Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
• Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design.
• Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
• Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
• Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same.
• Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same.
• Research and apply code provisions to design.
• Work with experienced engineers to create project designs.
• Utilize Autocad Civil 3D on a daily basis.
• Research design options and document findings for project manager.
• Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs.
• Assist other Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0-2+ years of related experience.
• Engineer in Training preferred.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Interest in Civil/Site Engineering projects; prior experience preferred but not required.
• Strong CAD skills, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Civil3D.
• Land Development project experience.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
