Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Accessories Engineering Designer to create detailed interior, exterior, electrical and chassis components, balancing functionality, safety, and aesthetics.

You will work with Architecture, Studio Design, Safety and Manufacturing to translate concepts into robust, manufacturable solutions, apply DFSS, and optimize space while meeting safety standards.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in interior, electrical, exterior, chassis components & accessories.
  • Advanced NX CAD modeling skills and Teamcenter/TcVis experience.
  • Strong communication and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed interior, exterior, electrical, and chassis components and system-level designs.
  • Develop highly integrated subsystems to resolve packaging challenges.
  • Apply DFSS and design-thinking to evaluate trade-offs and options.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Studio Design, Safety, and Manufacturing to translate concepts into robust, manufacturable solutions.
  • Benchmark competitors to ensure packaging and component performance meet industry standards.

Job description

  • Do you have a passion for enabling world-class Accessories using engineering principles and design innovation?
  • The Accessories Engineering Designer is responsible for creating detailed interior, exterior, electrical and chassis components and system-level designs that combine functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Working closely with Architecture, Studio Design, Safety, and Manufacturing teams, this role ensures that innovative concepts are translated into robust, manufacturable solutions.
  • Develop highly integrated subsystems to resolve packaging challenges, ensuring design best practices and criteria are maintained.
  • Develop and integrate engineering criteria for components collaborating closely with Vehicle Architecture, Studio Styling and Release Engineer teams.
  • Apply DFSS and design-thinking methodologies to manage trade-offs and evaluate alternatives considering cost, mass, timing, dimensional variation, assembly, and other architectural imperatives.
  • Integrate global and regional safety requirements into vehicle architectures, developing solutions that exceed standards.
  • Actively communicate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical challenges within Expert Team meetings for your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that subsystems align with safety, occupant accommodations, storage, and accessibility.
  • Participate in CITs and SDIT Workgroups to balance innovation, design for assembly, manufacturability and design best practices.
  • Benchmark competitors to ensure packaging and component performance meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Create and maintain NX models for surface guidance and space claims, continuously developing your NX skills.
  • Incorporate Voice of the Customer insights into packaging and design solutions to maximize space utilization and enhance customer experience.
  • Support Math Virtual Assessments and Synch Point reviews to validate design integrity and integration.
Requirements
  • 3-5+ years’ experience in Interior, Electrical, Exterior, Chassis components & Accessories parts
  • B.S. in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Advanced NX CAD Modeling Skills
  • Advanced use of Teamcenter and TcVis
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of automotive design
  • Understanding of design for manufacturing and design for assembly
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Utilization of benchmarking toolsets
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
  • Aptitude to integrate complex interior subsystems and a passion for innovation
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Understanding of Engineering Specifications
  • Understanding of human to vehicle interface
