We are seeking an experienced Engineering Department Manager to lead and grow our engineering team. Responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day engineering operations, supporting team leads, driving cross-functional projects, hiring new talent, and aligning engineering initiatives with business goals.

Duties Include:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineering managers, team leads, and individual contributors
• Collaborate with the Program Management, Production, Software, and other departments to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
• Establish and maintain engineering best practices and quality standards
• Allocate engineering resources effectively across teams and initiatives
• Drive talent acquisition, onboarding, and career development within the engineering department

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• 15 years of experience in a relevant engineering field, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
• Proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams in a fast-paced technology company
• Familiarity with relevant engineering software, tools, and methodologies
• Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay close attention to details and technical accuracy
• Familiarity with DoD standards related to design, development and test of weapon systems
• Experience implementing and/or adhering to ISO9001 practices
• U.S. Citizenship required, including successful completion of a background check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred skills:

• Significant hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical engineering
• Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions
• Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field

This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
