Job Summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS' expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

Our team is adding an Engineering Control Account Manager (CAM) for satellite systems in Englewood, CO. In this role you will provide direct support to project engineers and product team leads providing the data analysis and forecasts to ensure assigned control accounts are executed on cost and schedule.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Control Account Manager (CAM) serves as the primary interface between the Engineering/Technical Team and the Finance and Scheduling departments. As a member of the Engineering/Technical Team, the CAM must understand key technical issues, actively participate in team meetings, and engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assess and challenge performance and estimates.

The CAM works with SMEs to develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), detailed execution plans, realistic timelines, and supporting data (QDBs) to effectively manage program performance. The CAM represents the control account at Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs), reports performance status to Program Management, develops Estimates to Complete (ETCs), and recommends recovery strategies for underperforming efforts. This role partners closely with Program Management, Product Team Leads, and Engineering IPT Leads to plan and execute engineering development on new and existing programs.

Other specific responsibilities include:

  • Defines tasks required to accomplish the technical SOW.
  • Assures scheduled activities for the Control Account have a realistic duration and practical performance logic.
  • Maintains applicable portions of the Contract WBS Dictionary and assuring that it ties to the contractual Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Defines budget requirements for each task identified and their correlation to the Basis of Estimate.
  • Reviews, interrogates and approves all accurately reported hours and dollars charged to the Control Account.
  • Periodically prepares the Control Account variance analysis reports providing explanations, impact statements and corrective action narratives for deviations from expected performance.
  • Developing, managing and implementing corrective actions for variances.
  • Maintains awareness of Subcontract Data Requirement List (SDRL) items and other applicable contract deliverables.
  • Prepares Estimates to Completion (ETCs) for remaining Control Account work scope.
  • During the execution of the Control Account, providing forecast dates for accomplishing remaining activities and milestones in the Control Account schedule.
  • Informs management of critical issues concerning Control Account performance.
  • Identifies and quantifies potential risks and making effective use of available risk management tool as required.
  • Uses the baseline change control process for any and all revisions to the Control Account's baseline scope, schedule or budget. Submits Budget Change Notices (BCN) as needed to document all revisions necessary to the Control Account Plan (CAP).

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, business administration or related discipline, along with five or more years of related experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • BS degree in an engineering discipline desired.
  • Must have general knowledge of earned value systems in a research or production environment.
  • Previous EVMS experience desired, must be able to complete a CAM certification within the first 6 months after hiring.
  • Must either have engineering skills or the ability to gain an understanding of engineering issues in the conduct of the job.
  • Possess good organizational skills.
  • An effective communicator with the ability to write, interpret and explain programmatic issues.
  • Must have good social skills to facilitate effective interaction with engineers, program management and customer representatives.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with the following electronic software: word processing, spreadsheet, e- mail, and Microsoft Project.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required; Travel expected to be less than 10%
  • Working knowledge/experience of space systems product lines and customers and DOD experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary

Salary range: 81,080 - 141,650
