Job summary

Altec invites Engineering Co-op students to join in Indianapolis, IN, across Manufacturing, Applications, or Quality departments (assignment after hire). The program alternates full-time classroom study with full-time, discipline-related employment, typically three or four work terms, building over a year of relevant work experience before graduation.

Participants gain hands-on design, testing, and process improvement experience, with exposure to Lean practices, Teamcenter, and PLM workflows

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering is required; excludes Technology.
• Preferred majors include Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Agricultural Engineering.
• Must have completed a minimum of 24 hours of coursework, or have Sophomore standing.
• Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Prior interaction with Altec at a recruitment event or past intern/co-op with Altec highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with an Engineer to perform engineering assignments including research, testing, design and/or development.
• Develop problem solving skills to address short- and long-term production issues with visible impact.
• Assist in the design application of projects where creativity and innovation are required.
• Learn to identify and reduce unnecessary costs in manufacturing.
• Apply engineering procedures and calculations to develop solutions to problems.
• Support Continuous Improvement events and activities and participate in Lean initiatives.
• Participate in personal and professional development sessions.
