Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Co-Op in Indianapolis, IN, offering exposure to Manufacturing, Applications, or Quality departments.

The program alternates terms of full-time study with full-time, discipline-related employment to build hands-on experience before graduation. Participants may engage in research, testing, design, and production improvements while gaining skills in CAD, PLM, and process optimization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering required; excludes Technology
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Agricultural Engineering preferred
• Must have completed a minimum of 24 hours of coursework, or have Sophomore standing
• Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Prior interaction with Altec at a recruitment event or past intern/co-op with Altec highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Work with an Engineer to perform engineering assignments including research, testing, design or development
• Develop problem solving skills to address short- and long-term production issues with visible impact
• Assist in design applications of projects where creativity or innovation is required
• Learn to identify and reduce unneeded costs in manufacturing
• Apply engineering procedures and calculations to develop solutions to problems
• Support and participate in Continuous Improvement events and activities
• Implement Lean principles throughout the facility
• Participate in personal and professional development sessions

Responsibilities

Engineering Co-op to fill a role in the following departments: Manufacturing, Applications, or Quality (assigned after hire) and will be located in Indianapolis, IN.

Co-Op: provide students with multiple periods of work related to the student’s major or career goal. The program plan is for students to alternate terms of full-time classroom study with terms of full-time, discipline-related employment. Program participation involves multiple work terms, and typical participant will work three or four work terms, thus gaining a year or more of career-related work experience before graduation.

Open to applicants who attended a career fair and either met with an Altec representative or was invited to apply ONLY.

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering required; excludes Technology
• A degree in one of the following majors preferred:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering
• Must have completed a minimum of 24 hours of coursework, or have earned Sophomore class standing
• Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Python, SQL, MATLAB, C/C++, PowerBi
• Experience with 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks) modeling.
